David and Yadid Felix

Thanksgiving for this family was one to remember. Just two days prior to the family gathering together on the Thursday, they were accepted into Habitat’s program. That’s all they remember about their Thanksgiving.

David and Yadid have been blessed with three children: Christian (10), Erik (9), and Melanie (1). Christian can be found scoring goals on the soccer field while Erik can be spotted on the basketball court sinking three-pointers. The two boys also enjoy riding bikes but, unfortunately, their bikes have been stolen several times. On top of living in a rough neighborhood, their apartment doesn’t lock properly and their apartment complex isn’t compliant with repairs. There are three bedrooms in the apartment which include David’s mother and brother, the couple and the three kids, respectively.

A home with a fenced backyard where the kids can play safely provides comfort to the parents. This couple has longed to be homeowners ever since they started a family.

With much of their family living in Bryan, this family has been able to receive countless support and encouragement. They would like to especially thank the Family Selection Committee for allowing them to have the opportunity to own a Habitat home.

A special thanks to Smith Dairy Queens for sponsoring the Felix family’s dream of owning a home.
