Habitat for Humanity has been busy over the past 20 years. Since 1989, BCS Habitat for Humanity has helped more than 165 families. That's over 700 people that have had their lives greatly changed by the generosity of our community.
Cynthia Figgers is one of those people. She recently moved into her new house and is a busy mom, raising her two boys. Being able to live in a house makes all the difference in the world.
"The best part about living in a home like this is it's very affordable. I can afford the home. I love the kitchen. I'm able to cook in the kitchen more with the space," said Figgers.
Jessica Martinez has lived in her Habitat home for over a year. She and her husband both work full-time and are raising two children of their own. Moving from an apartment to a house has made family life for the Martinez's much more interactive. Something that wouldn't have been possible without the help of Habitat and the Brazos Valley.
"When Christmas comes around, you can put up Christmas lights. When Halloween comes around you can decorate your house and I think they'll be able to feel somebody smile, a big smile," said Martinez.
For each and every family, having a home comes down to just that-family.
"It's very warming to know that this is going to be your own house. That your kids are going to grow up here," said Martinez.
"Being able to live in this home is truly a blessing for me and the boys," said Figgers.
