09/22/2009 3:32 PM - Saturday, September 19 was a joyous morning on Emil's Way in the Angels Gate subdivision in Bryan. The walls were going up on a new home for the Williams family - Lakeshia and her three children, Joseph, J'Warren and Za'miya. The family has been living in a crowded two bedroom apartment in an unsafe neighborhood.
Because of the hard work and determination of the Catholic Charities of Central Texas - Brazos Valley Office, 5 local Catholic Churches have come together to help fund and build the house for Lakeshia and her children.
Pastor Chris Downey of St. Mary's Catholic church conducted the Blessing at the Wall Raising. But it was little J'Warren (age 1) who really was the star of the show - winning people's hearts as he was passed around from one person to another.
Lakeshia has completed the required sweat equity hours to begin construction on her home and has completed all twelve weeks of Workshop classes. She and her children are very excited to see the walls go up and are anticipating the day their house is dedicated and they receive the keys to their new home!
