We dedicated the Rodriguez-Chavez family home this morning and handed them the keys to their new Habitat home! Luis, Norma and their children Lupita and Brayan have been living with Luis’s parents in a two-bedroom trailer, without insulation and with a window A/C unit that can’t compete with the Texas heat. Their daughter Lupita has been sharing a room with her parents and Brayan has been sleeping in a closet, made bigger to fit his bed. The children will now each have their own rooms, and the parents will have some privacy and space of their own.

During the dedication ceremony, participants prayed over the Rodriguez-Chavez home and presented the family with many housewarming gifts including children’s books for Lupita and Brayan. Afterward, Luis and Norma welcomed us into their new home and treated everyone to a delicious meal! We wish them many good years in their home filled with celebrations (and perhaps even a puppy the their children have been wanting).

Thank you to the sponsors Nina Astin Winkler Trust, Denise Bermudez, University Title Company and Bank of America Charitable Foundation for making this home possible.
